FAME GOES TO BAND MEMBERS HEADS!

big-head-mid-life.jpg

Oh no!  It seems the fame of winning the TAMMIES performance award has gone to our heads.  Well, judging from this picture Maureen took, at least two of us have been affected.  Of course, you may have heard us referred to as “Gilbert & Mid Life Crisis”  on the radio and other national media, and that’s to be expected - it’s a curse, I can’t turn it off.  But now that Steve was a “show” in the Electronic Guitar category, Bob & Khang have been squeezed further into the wings.  Being the consummate professionals that they are, I’m sure they harbor no ill will.  There is no possibility of solo careers and you will never see us on “Behind the Music”, but I will keep you updated - keep checking the site.

AMERICAN LEGION, 66, AUGUST 24, 1977

Bob, Annie & John were awaiting our return to the American Legion Post 66 in Green Valley this Friday.  Good friends and regular dancers - they are part of the reason we always enjoy our play dates here.  As you saw on the main page. we updated our group shot - thanks to Bonnie for taking several for us - this one worked out nicely (Maureen took a couple and one of those will figure into our history section later on).  We showed our appreciation by focusing the spotlight on her.  You know Bonnie, you shouldn’t have told Bob your birthday was Sunday if you didn’t want us to sing.  But, you did get a spotlight dance out of it.  Fran & Angelina (the shorts work!) kept the drinks coming and once again we pushed the AC to the max.  We return on Sept. 21st, hope to see the Women’s club again!

ELKS AUGUST 18, 2007

Well, we were a week early but we got a good crowd out and we saw plenty of our T-shirts in the audience.  Nancy, one of our favorite lovelies, brought us a congratulatory bouquet of balloons to celebrate our TAMMIES award.  We were feeling so proud then we promptly bit the big chorizo on 3 songs - that’s what we get for teasing Steve about his cue on Kansas City.  To be honest, his goof was minor compared to mine - that’s okay, most of La Bamba is in Spanish -no one would have known if Steve didn’t do a little dance.  Your time will come again #3.  Bob forgot some words, but it wouldn’t be a gig if Bob didn’t miss some words or a key or two.  Hey, if we didn’t have fun, we wouldn’t be doing this.

Nice crowd, kept the dance floor full until the 11th hour toast.  Adrienne was there looking very hot and the ladies at her table brightened the festivities considerably.  I got to dance a bit with Leslie who looked good in spite of not having her Mid Life shirt on.  I hope I get the pictures so I can post them, but our good friend John Denbo took his scooter out on the floor for a couple of dances.  We’ll see you again on the 22nd of September.
