JOANN & HARRY COOK - 50TH ANNIVERSARY

cook2.JPGcook.JPG

JoAnn & Harry’s friends & family know how to have a good time.  You know you have good party going when a conga line snakes around the dance floor.  The Cooks had close to 170 people present to celebrate 50 years together - such a great group of people, they are truly blessed.  We gave the frenetic crowd a couple of extra songs at the end and we might have kept going if Jen, Angelina, Fran & others didn’t need to clean up the place.  We were very honored to be part of the festivities, I hope someone sends us some pictures.

We love a good costume party and we were honored to be asked back to the TGIS party.  We saw some great costumes as always and were happy to see the participants getting on the dance floor - the inflatable partners were always in use (hey, I’m just the reporter).  If you wonder why Khang’s picture made it:  not only was he having fun, but he was standing next to one of our new speakers.  You’ll only see these when we play the larger rooms, but it is a nice upgrade and now we’re ready to play anywhere in Tucson/Green Valley.

We’ll be back in the Elks Bar on Nov. 3 so we’ll see some of you then.  I wanted to thank TGIS for letting some of our regular friends use the floor for a couple of dances - I do appreciate it.

OCTOBER 12 & 13, 2007

Well, I didn’t get a chance to take any performance pictures this weekend (but I do expect some from Mary’s party on Friday any day now), so I’ve included this photo I took of the guys doing a sound check before the Arizona Children’s Home Fundraiser.

But first, Friday & Mary Murray’s 60th birthday party (and I have to say, a very hot 60).  It was very cyclical - playing a patio party under the stars, looking out on the lights of Green Valley - I do believe this was the location of our 1st or 2nd paid gig 5 (6?) years ago.  I’m glad we had a much greater variety of music for our enthusiastic guests.  I’m also glad all the neighbors were invited because we kept the music thumping for 3 hours and never once did the police show up.  Hopefully, we’ll share some shots from the party later on, so keep checking back.  We were well fed and everyone was happy at the end of the evening - thanks for including us!

Saturday Night:  Starr Pass has built a nice convention/banquet center and I believe we were one of three events going on that night.  They did need traffic control.  This was a very nice & worthy event - attendance was around 400 and I hope they raised a ton for the kids.   A little bit different type of night for us - we were set up by 6:30 and then waited until 8:45 to perform.  I’ve been to enough of these functions to know quite a few people leave when the speeches are over, but I was a bit worried at the mass rush for the door when we were announced - I thought the room was going to tilt.  In spite of the vacuum, we had a nice & crowded dance floor after the crowd figured us out.  We were blessed with some dancing die-hards who stayed until the last table was cleared.  I took a peek at the Tucson Hispanic Chamber function and they were about the same - 3 or 4 tables that stayed to have fun.  We were quite gratified to be part of the “Celebration”.
