Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - Quite a heading, that’s why I placed the date here.  We had the opportunity to play the Monsoon Room again (lovely venue) for MTCVB’s Annual Partner Gathering.  It was a great chance to play a few different tunes and we were heartened by the fact that we got some people dancing even though it was a business network gathering.  Those that stayed until the end were happy to accomodate Steve’s request for an encore (our lead gutairist - I guess he was still in the zone).  Many thanks to Vicki Doyle for inviting us kudos go out to Judy Wood & Laurie White as well.  I hope those that grabbed cards and demos take the time to call or come catch us play sometime soon!

SWINEHART/JOHNSON NUPTIALS 6-21-08

Since this was a wedding reception (Jacinda, daughter of our very own Steve & sometime singer with the band) there was an official photographer taking pictures.  I hope we get some that I can post later.  I have to admit, this was my kind of wedding ceremony - short and sweet.  There was only one gaffe during the ceremony - Steve forgot his lines - no surprise to those of us who sing with him.  The reception was held outside on the Patio for El Molinito on Pantano & Wrightstown but the breeze and pitchers of margaritas made it bearable.  Khang was back in the saddle with nary a hitch and I can safely say almost everyone had a good time dancing and singing along (don’t forget - pitchers of margaritas).  I don’t think there were any moments worthy of blackmail and Steve barely cried (pitchers . . .).  What a party!

Steve, I am really sorry about the first picture.  I know I would be mad if someone posted a picture of me doing “The Creature from the Black Lagoon”, but I didn’t get that many shots and that is a pretty lively background.  I know I keep out the pictures where I look like Andy Rooney.  Maybe no one will notice, I mean for all I know, only Bob & I ever visit the site.

Anyway, only a special Father (Father Richard Kingsley, my pastor, 4t picture) would get us out on Father’s day.  Specifically, only his 25th year as a priest.  Even though he couldn’t dance because of his lumbago, we got the other people dancing by the second set.  My special thanks to Joanne for getting the group going during the line dances.  I also want to recognize my youngest daughter (Brooke) for coming and my niece Sarah from San Antonio (who served as my substitute older daughter since my daughter-who-will-not-be-named couldn’t make it - not that I’m bitter).  It took a bit for the crowd to loosen up, but had a rowsing finish.  I’m glad we were able to celebrate with Father & the parish even if we did keep him from watching the end of the Open and the beginning of the basketball game.  As it stands, he got to watch the sudden death playoff today and he should see the Celtics clinch on Tuesday.
