We had such a great crowd and so much fun last week, I am very sorry it took me so long to post, but all that “work stuff” kept getting in the way. That and the fact I have been alternating vehicles and kept forgetting my camera. This was our best legion crowd in quite some time and they were ready to party. As you can see from some of the shots, we had some friends drift over from an earlier luau - Melanie’s ankle flowers kept distracting me and Dick’s shirt was an eye-popper. Betty was back from the great North and brought the whole band some salmon - we have such wonderful friends. Sorry to say we aren’t back at the Legion until August 13, so save your energy - stay in the shade, drink a beer or margarita. Keep checking back to the site for news on the TAMMIES.

Just one sad little picture via my Blackberry because I have left my camera in my truck. This was at the Open House/Grand Opening for Bernadette’s business on Camino Seco - we played outdoors and got some attention, but no one called the cops on us. There was some good food and a Margarita Fountain that saw plenty of use. Joanne, Kathy, Claire & Shane showed up along with fellow agent Julie Burnett & former agent Leah Geistfeld. It was nice to play some of the newer tunes that don’t see much airplay in Green Valley. Our thanks again to Bernadette for asking us to take part.

We were celebrating Gloria’s birthday (Leah, you did a great job!) and Jim & Kathy Simmons even got a conga line going - never a bad thing. I left my camera in the car the first set and I was stuffing my face the second so I hope some of the other picture takers share some with me. Lola, Cher & EJ had a vivacious table and Wild Bill even made an appearance - unfortunately only for a slow dance. As he told us, he can get down, but might not be able to make it back up. We had a crowd that was out to have fun - mission accomplished. The Elks will be our only gig in July, it will be precious to us!

Hmm, there was a bit of a floor show on Saturday night, I’ll have to settle up with Leah later on. We had 4 birthdays in the house, including Betty who was kicking up her heels before heading to the Antarctic or somewhere colder than here. Marion was there dancing on jet-lagged legs and I have to congratulate the Simmons (sporting the jaunty hats) who were married the day before. The last 5 photos are mine, the rest were taken by Susanne who like Betty, Mel, Gloria, Leah, Joyce & EJ were parting for the second night in a row! Then again, we were too but didn’t make it to the “other” place so they out-partied the band. Our next gig will back here on June 5. Fair warning, Khang might not be there (was it because his pocket was picked?) but John or Koko will be the talented sub.

We have a good assortment of pictures thanks to Susanne who sent the first 11 and Kat who took the next 4. Pictures from the stage would have been small & fuzzy. We moved to West Center for this event - we like that stage and most in the crowd said the sound was good. We had a few bumps, but it was so nice to be playing and singing again. We’ll play here again in November for the GVR’s concert series so be checking the site and e-mails. My thanks to Bobbie & Shelly for their help, to Betty & the Popcorn girls for keeping our whistles wet.

Hmm, there is a slight age differnce between the photos I posted for the pre-school . . . I guess that shows we are a band for all ages! Let me begin by saying we owe Claire big-time! She had requested (and tipped for it) “Celebrate” or “Louie, Louie” and we couldn’t do either with Bob missing. So sorry, but we will make it up to you the 22nd of May when Bob & Mid Life Crisis return to the Elks. Several people asked how Bob was doing and he/we thank you for your concern. The worst-case scenario will involve stealing a chair for him. We were lucky to have a great crowd that was ready to dance. Oh, Leah & Dick & others - we will have “Mustang Sally” when Ironsides comes back. See you in a month!

SONSHINE PRE-SCHOOL - APRIL 23, 2010

So this was our 9th (?) anniversary of the “First” gig. There were some worries about the weather, but the rain clouds were gone and even though it was bit cool, we took part in another successful carnival. Since Bob wasn’t there and I had to sing more songs, I didn’t get as many shots as I wanted, but kids hit the floor in the second set for “YMCA” (Joanne had them practicing during the week) - a few were tentative but when we played “The Middle” it became, in words of my youngest daughter Brooke, a junior “mosh pit”. All pizza, nachos & soda we could consume and I even got asked for an autograph - a fair trade! Thanks ladies, see you one last time next year!

Desert Hills Golf Club - Kachina Tournament Dinner 4-10-2010

I have a new camera and I messed up a couple of shots - sorry - this is all I got of the golf-playing party goers. I want to thank Dick and the committee for asking us to participate again. It was a western theme, so we were heavier on the C&W in the first set, but got down to business in the second and third sets. Jan & Joe brought a fully-stocked ice chest for us and another kind soul provided a bottle of wine as well. This was our last gig before Bob gets his knee replaced and it was a good one, thanks again. Hope to see everyone one last time next year.

The night wound up being a goodbye party for a long-time friend of the band, Bill Segura (first picture). Bill will be moving to Dallas to be closer to family - we will miss him greatly - he hasn’t let the bumps in the road deter from coming out to join us. Chuck, the Popcorn girls, Joyce & Betty with Maggie the birthday girl helped keep the evening moving. Due to schedule conflicts, we don’t return until June - see you then!

Jack was kind enough to ask that we help usher in his year as the Exhaulted Ruler of the Lodge. It’s alwasys fun to see our friends all gussied up for the party. We provided a bit more “elegant” music to honor the ocassion, but still snuck a few songs that let us all boogie. I’m sorry that our friends in the bar weren’t able to join in. It looks like we will play one more of these before we ride into the sunset next year - it will be an honor. See the Elks back in the bar on April 24.
