I should have a couple of shots to add tomorrow (I left the camera in the gig bags at home). I’m sorry I never got enough shots here, but the last time the crowd was too sparse. I really wish we could have had more friends & fans make it out. Jo, Tom, Linda & Shane plus a few more joined us this past Friday and wore the carpet down a bit. Angela, Kimberly and the rest of the staff are so wonderful here, it’s a shame it didn’t take off - there’s a chance we might have one more night here on March 26th, but let them know it might serve them best to have the same band here every Friday night. Check it out if you are ever in the area, have a drink with the best view town.

A lot of great shots of a great crowd (Ellen, thanks for sharing some of your pictures). We had a full house early and I’m sorry to say a few people had to leave because it was so crowded. Our popcorn girls went back to their roots from a year ago and had to stand by the popcorn machine during the first set - always more fun when they come out to dance. Betty had her club with her, Joyce was there and Gloria made a late appearance (but we definitely noticed her). “Wild” Bill (see photo 4) got down as usual and special thanks go out to Claire (in the last shot) who making the most of her last night out for awhile. We hope to see you again when the joints are back & functioning Claire (I do believe we neglected to sing you Happy Birthday last month? Sorry!). Sorry to say we don’t play the bar in March since we are playing the Innaugural Ball, but we return April 24th! See you then.

Dance space was at a premium but that didn’t stop the true dancers last Friday night. We had a lot of fun at this classy restaurant/night club. A fantastic view, a great crowd and 2 beautiful ladies (Angela & Kimberly) making sure the drinks kept flowing. This was a last minute gig and I was a bit worried if our music would work - it did and it was nice to not worry about volume and play some of the newer rock (and disco never fails). It was even nicer that Shane brought Nancy to celebrate her birthday and Jennine & Lee made us look like a classy band with classier fans. We will be back again this Friday, starting at 9:30 - come join us - we’ll work out the dance floor logistics.

American Legion (66) Buddy Holly Party - Feb 2, 2010

I have to admit I was surprised. First when I saw how jammed the parking lot was for burger night at the Legion. Second, by the number of people that stayed the whole night to dance with us. Today is the actual anniversary, but the night commemorated the crash 51 years ago that took the lives and Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens & the Big Bopper (I never learned the name of the pilot. We also had a friend in attendance who had tickets for the next planned performance of Buddy Holly. You have all heard me say I am from Lubbock, Texas, Buddy’s hometown, and it’s sad to remember how many years the city ignored it’s famous son. Well, this was a fitting tribute and I’m glad we had the chance to participate. I was also asked a couple of times about our absence from the Legion - it’s merely that Jennifer forgot about us. She actually thought we were already on the books for the year and had the first two months already filled by the time she realized it. So, we will be here regularly for the rest of the year - but I have to confess I think I have to cancel the April gig - my youngest has tickets for “Muse” in Phoenix. Other than that, we look forward to the year. See you in March.

Now we have a full slate of pictures to go with the full house of party animals - Dick, thanks for getting so many great shots for us. Founding member John Ankiewicz played the last of his fill-in gigs for us and was suitably impressed by the energy in the room. He had a table of friends - one of many groups that came out to have a good time. The last picture shows our fill-in singer, Rocking Robert, Bob’s customized birthday Muppet courtesy of his daughter Alex. He did a great job on “Do You Love Me?” My special thanks to those who waited out the crowd in the dining room. I want to apolgize for not getting out and thanking so many of you (Gloria & Joyce, it was wonderful seeing you both getting your fix!) but I was a bit distracted by news of the week. Kay, we’ll miss you, Bev, I look forward to seeing you up and all dolled up soon!

Wow, it’s been a week that slipped away from me. I did a pretty bad job of picture taking this night, kept putting my finger on the flash. My apologies to the good people here - they took a while to warm up and adapt to the volume, but it was a strong finish. So, looks like we will you one more time before we ride off into the sunset (next year)!

If you read these sequentially, you know that I was without a camera this weekend - a real minus on Saturday as we had some interesting costumes. Once again I am obliged to the “kindness of strangers” to provide me some pictures from the night. Special thanks to founding member John Ankiewicz for filling in so ably on the bass, I think he had fun too. I really wish I could have captured the final 2 songs - YMCA & Old Time Rock ‘n Roll - there wasn’t an open spot on the floor.

A sellout crowd that filled the floor, Popcorn Girls raising a ruckus and I left my camera at the office. Lola was generous with her Marg mix, Kat shared her sweets and Susan gave us the coolest board game - “Mid Life Crisis”. I’m hoping Susan will come through along with a couple of others with some pictures to share. We had a great time and as always look forward to filling the hall again. Koko did a great job filling in for the travelling Khang. I have to remember to wear some sliding shoes next time . . .

New Year’s Eve at Quail Creek CC

We had a sellout crowd that was ready to party! Chuck (1st picture) was sick and he still stayed most of the night. The Audra & the team at Quail Creek put together a great event and we were blessed to be part of the festivities. We had a couple of anniversaries and a new one for next year as Jo said yes when Freddie popped the question. We brought back an old disco song and added a new one and the crowd here always appreciates a little spelling at the end of the night. Thanks for letting us be part of the festivities!

Loved the shirt, that’s why you see that unusual first picture. A rare Monday night gig closed out the flurry of Christmas parties for us. It had been a while since we had played for the Baja Club - one of our first regulars and I believe Bob’s first gig with us was at a Baja function. As always, it’s great to see everyone all gussied up and we are happy to celebrate with one of our favorite groups. Merry Christmas everyone!
